Love of the River

Description

Way way back in high school I had to read an old Mexican legend for Spanish class. This was years ago and I barely had 1 year under the belt when I read it so I am most likely giving a severely butchered version of the myth.

There was this woman. She was special. So special that nature itself adored her. She wandered to this village next to a river. The people welcomed her with open arms. At first the people loved her, but because the woman was different they slowly began to distrust her. Distrust turned to hate and eventually the whole village shunned her. Saddened, she left but not before the river, who loved her so much, flowed into her long hair along with all of its fishes. With no river to support the village the people were devastated when they realized their mistake and begged for the woman to come back. Hearing their cries, she came back and combed the river & fish out of her hair. Lesson being to treat those who are different fairly.

Anyways, this is an entry for faestock’s contest [link]. Wasn’t gonna do it, but then creativity hit me a couple of days ago. Fastest piece I’ve made yet.

Origami fish are Sipho Mabona's koi design. I know he made a lovely stop animation video on how to fold it a few years ago.
